Christmas in San Salvador is, like many other things there,
brought to you by Western Union. Over $2.2 billion is sent
back to El Salvador each year from families living abroad,
making remittances the country's largest industry. Western
Union and a few other multinational corporations contol the
remittance system, extracting huge profits.
