Seared Daikon with Sesame Sauce

See photo.

1 large daikon, chopped into strips roughly 2” long, 1” wide, 1/4" thick
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp arrowroot powder
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp rice wine
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and add the daikon so that all pieces are lying directly on the pan (not each other). Fry at medium-high heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring and flipping the pieces every two minutes, until most pieces are browned around the edges but not burnt.
2. Meanwhile, combine the arrowroot powder and 1 tbsp of water in a small saucepan and mix well. Add the remaining water, rice wine, rice vinegar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat. Reduce the heat to low and continue simmering for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
3. Serve the daikon with the sesame sauce drizzled on top and the sesame seeds sprinkled over the sauce.
