Hoisin Sesame Sauce

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons balsamic or rice vinegar
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons plum sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon arrowroot powder
5 tablespoons sesame oil

1. Heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan and stir fry the ginger and garlic for 2 minutes, or until lightly browned.
2. Add the hoisin sauce, vinegar, soy sauce, plum sauce, sugar, and water, lower the heat, and mix well.
3. In a small cup, mix the arrowroot powder with a tablespoon or two of water, until it forms a white liquid.
4. Add the arrowroot and sesame oil to the sauce, mix well, and continue simmering on low heat 2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.

Serve over stir fried vegetables, and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top.
